Most of what people believe about menopause treatment traces back to a handful of studies, and most of those studies are more nuanced than the headlines that reported them. This hub takes the important ones and explains what was studied, who took part, what was found, and what has changed since.

The aim is not to replace a clinician’s reading of the evidence. It is to give you enough of the background that when a doctor mentions “the WHI” or “the 2022 position statement,” you know what they mean and can ask a better question.

Each summary says where the full paper is, whether it is open access, and what the main limitations were. Where experts disagree, we say that too. Posts are dated and show when they were last reviewed, because guidance moves and a summary that was right in 2022 can need an update.

If you want somewhere to start, read the summary of The Menopause Society’s hormone therapy position statement first. It is the clearest single picture of where the evidence stands.
